Almost 220 runners and walkers set off on the route from the village of Murroe into the grounds of Glenstal Abbey, where the race finished. Traditionally the last event officiated by Mary from Murroe before handing over her crown, 2013 Mary from Murroe, Megan Landers, started the race and presented the prizes to the winners. The Glenstal Cup for Senior Men was won by Mike Carmody, winning the race for a second time. Senior Women was won by Dympna Ryan, in a time of 19min 26sec, the first time a woman has completed the course in under 20 minutes. She was presented with the John Egan Cup.
Thanks to all of the locals who were involved in organisation, registration, setting up the course and stewarding, and, of course, providing refreshments to all participants, and to our sponsors who gave so many generous prizes.
