Murroe Active Retirement association
(Marian social club)
The Marion Social Club was formed in 1991 and is affiliated to the Active Retirement Network Ireland.
It was set up to meet the needs of the active retired of our parish and it’s surrounds.
Currently we have 35 members who meet on a weekly basis in the Muintir na Tire Hall, Murroe.
Here members play cards or bingo while 2 committee members are at hand to serve tea/coffee and home made cakes.
Throughout the year, workshops are held which would be of interest to our members. For example, flower arranging,
or Health Issues and entitlements.
The Marion Social club have also taken part in Surveys and Projects, providing valuable information for research of issues relating to the elderly.
Both Intel Ireland Digital and the School of Physiotherapy in Trinity College have availed of this.
Fundraising is carried out through various methods, mainly sourced through grants from Go for Life or the annual Monster 45 drives. We are most grateful for these as they are of great financial benefit to the club.
The highlight for the club members is the summer break, taken over 2-3 days in various locations thoughout Ireland.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome anyone wishing to join the club to one of our weekly meetings.
These are held from 8-10pm Wednesday nights in the FitzGerald Room of the Muintir na Tire Hall, Murroe.
